Know Exactly Who & Where Your Beef is From!
RAINBOW LAGOONS BEEF - HECKENDORF ROAD FARM
Our next processing dates will be on March 4th, and pick up will be the 12th March, for the heifer pictured above.
She is a beautiful 2yr old heifer, whose Brown Swiss mother produces high quality butterfat milk, therefore raising a very high quality beef product.
The heifer has been born and bred on our farm, and handled to ensure quiet tempermant for low stress processing.
Above is some of the diverse vegetation growing amongst the pastures.
Your health is hugely dependant on the health of your food! Our Beef are not only raised with love and care, but are fit and healthy. They also consume quality vegetation of a wide diversity, getting vitamin and mineral intakes that aren’t available to us, and transforming them into a protein packed, nutritional superfood.
You can cook your Beef as plain steaks with a sprinkle of quality sea-salt, and turn your cheaper cuts into a wide range of deliciousness with herbs and spices, and sides of vegetables and salads.
His mother Hereford X Cow, and his father is a purebred Santa Gertrudis Bull.
His hanging weight was 272kg.
He was with his mother for about 8 months, and then weaned for about 1 week, fed on quality hay. Then turned out into the paddocks again with his mates.
This steer was handled with care and treated kindly. He was naturally friendly, and would come over for a pat on his own accord.
A calm steer who is used to human interaction, will have low stress levels when being transported and processed, in turn producing tender, nutritious and well-flavoured beef for you. (it’s not the colour of the hide that matters!)
Our Grassfed Beef typically yields less useable beef on the carcass, and less marbled and cuts, than their Grainfed counterparts. This is because they are physically active and burning energy foraging for hours at a time, walking to their waters, walking to trees for a camp and socialising. I would call this a healthy way of life.
This steer has never been fed grain or given hormones and antibiotics ( we aren’t against antibiotics, as in some cases it’s needed , or grain). He has only ever had a 7 in 1 Injection as a calf, to help with common disease that can be spread by the environment including feral pigs. And wormed once in Summer as a precaution.
This steer was processed in November 2025, and his hanging weight was 324kg.
He was born on our farm. His mother is a beautiful, quiet angus x hereford cow, father is a pure Santa Gertrudis Bull.
He is naturally quiet, curious and easy going around humans. His health was perfect, never any issues, and never anything given accept our annual routine 7 in 1 vaccine, and spring/autumn worming.
We kept a quarter of this steer for our own consumption, and we were very happy with the high quality, tenderness and taste of this beef.
